A Hidden Café by Cheongcho Lake
Tucked into a side street near Cheongcho Lake, Chilsung Boatyard Café (칠성조선소) doesn’t look like much from the entrance. But once you step inside, the space opens up to wide grounds filled with renovated shipyard buildings and a large container repurposed into a café
From Shipyard to Cultural Space
The site used to be a functioning boatyard. Today, the original buildings remain but have been transformed into a mix of a gallery, seating areas, and unique outdoor benches made from shipyard parts. It reminded me a little of Joyangbangjik in Ganghwa, another industrial space turned cultural landmark.

What I Tried
Inside the container café, the ceilings are high and the second floor has large glass windows facing the lake. The front seats are popular, so be ready to wait if you want that view.
I ordered an iced Americano, a chocolate latte, and their egg tart. The Americano was standard, the chocolate latte leaned sweet, and the egg tart turned out to be the highlight — crisp layers with a creamy filling, similar to Portuguese-style pastéis de nata
