Chilsung Boatyard Café in Sokcho: A Waterfront Hangout with History

 A Hidden Café by Cheongcho Lake Tucked into a side street near Cheongcho Lake, Chilsung Boatyard Café (칠성조선소) doesn’t look like much from the entrance. But once you step inside, the space opens up to wide grounds filled with renovated shipyard buildings and a large container repurposed into a café From Shipyard to Cultural Space The site used to be a functioning boatyard. Today, the original buildings remain but have been transformed into a mix of a gallery, seating areas, and unique outdoor benches made from shipyard parts. It reminded me a little of Joyangbangjik in Ganghwa, another industrial space turned cultural landmark. Lakeside Vibes and Open-Air Seating On a sunny day, the café gets lively with people sipping coffee outdoors while looking out over the water.
